I would recommend pulling all Google Adsense Ads off of your site until you become established.
Even then...you want to be extremely conservatives with your ads.
Ads encourage visitors to leave your site. They may never come back!

Why I Disklike the "Google Adsense" Business Model
In case your aren't familiar with Google Adsense. It is a way to make money by displaying ads on your site. When a visitor clicks on one of the ads, you make a little bit of money as they go on to that next site.
The BIGGEST problem with Google Adsense is that you actually WANT visitors to leave your site to get paid.
I want people to stay on my site as long as possible! How can I "deliver value" if they move on to another site?
The OTHER problem with Google Adsense is the clutter it creates on your site.
Speaking of clutter...

My #1 complaint with the majority of blogs is that there is too much "stuff" going on!
If a site looks too busy, I typically click away.
I know the trend these days is to have dozens of "bells and whistles" on a site, but that doesn't mean it is an effective way get people to read your content.
Here is an example of a site with a simple design that is content driven: Zen to Fitness

Note: I expect big things from this site. This is an example of a person who "gets it".
Remember...Your TOP priority is to deliver VALUE to your visitors. The only way to deliver value is if they read your outstanding content.

Delivering Great Value to Your Visitors = More Sites Linking to Your Content
You most likely have heard about link building. It is the practice of asking for sites to link to your site. Often times, people will do "Reciprocal Linking"...which means that you are linking to a site that is linking to you.
While I will teach you several methods to build incoming links to your site, you are only one person.
Want to have dozens of people help you build links to your site?
Create Outstanding Content and Deliver Great Value!
Delivering great value is more work in the short term, but MUCH less work in the long-term.
Every time someone mentions your article in a forum or on their blog, they are increasing your site's value in Google.
Once you reach "Critical Mass" and enough quality sites link to your blog, then your site becomes a monster.
You will get instant listing in Google for every post you write.
I'm so spoiled that I get mad if my post doesn't instantly show up on the first page of Google for the phrase I'm targeting.
If it doesn't make page #1, I can easily get there with a few advanced linking tactics.
And...Google is just a small part of the bigger picture when it comes to traffic. There exists a much larger source of traffic...
